After a leisurely mid morning pickup we travel to Canterbury for our first overnight stay on a half board basis.

We leave the hotel after breakfast and travel to Dover where we will board the ferry to Calais.

Once in France we continue to Metz for an overnight stay on a bed & breakfast basis.

We leave our hotel in France and travel to Switzerland for our stay at the 4* Seehotel Pilatus on the banks of Lake Lucerne.

The family run hotel in Hergiswil is only a short drive from the city of Lucerne, The hotel has excellent leisure facilities including a spa, lakeside gardens and a large restaurant, lounge, bar and bistro.

Today we make the short drive from the hotel into the city of Lucerne where you will have free time to explore. 

Lucerne has a vast number of attractions. Stroll through the narrow lanes of the old town and walk across the famous wooden Chapel Bridge. See the water tower, the marble Lion monument carved into the rock face, the baroque Jesuit Church, stylish shops, bars and restaurants.

We enjoy a round trip cruise on Lake Lucerne which will highlight the mountains and villages around the lake, offering superb views.

Today is the highlight of the tour, a ride on the Glacier Express. 

Our coach will drive us to Andermatt where we will board the train for a scenic ride to Chur, which will take around 2 and a half hours.

The legendary Glacier Express offers the best view of the Alps' most prized landscapes. A narrow gauge train, it hugs the mountains and valleys for an immersive experience of the pristine Swiss countryside. With an average speed of 24mph, it is known affectionately as the slowest express train in the world and a unique rail experience not to be missed. 

On arrival in Chur, board the coach for the return journey to the hotel by road.

Today there is time to relax and enjoy the facilities of the hotel and its surroundings.

There are public transport opportunities if you want to go back to Lucerne independently. The local train is probably the best option which takes about 20 minutes from the hotel.

After breakfast we leave the hotel and visit Interlaken and Meiringen.

Interlaken is the capital of the Bernese Oberland and located between the lakes of Brienz and Thun, dominated by the mighty Jungfrau Alps.

The main street 'Hohenweg' boasts many designer shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.

After some free time, we drive to Meiringen, made famous by the literary Sherlock Holmes and where the tasty 'meringue' was invented. 

Here you will be able to visit the Sherlock Holmes museum and there is also a statue of him in the town.

After breakfast we leave the hotel and begin our journey home. 

We travel back to France today where we have an overnight stay in Reims, the champagne region, on a Bed and Breakfast basis.

We leave Reims today and head back to Calais for our return sailing to the UK.

On arrival in Dover we continue the journey back up North to your drop off point.
