Rouen is best known for the city with a hundred spires. It deserves a visit for its monuments, Gothic art being particularly well represented, but also for the charm of its alleyways and the many half-timbered houses.

Founded before the Roman’s, Rouen is Normandy’s largest city, with plenty of shops, restaurants, markets and museums. The City’s most impressive landmark is the Cathedral of Notre Dame which holds the tomb of Richard the Lionheart.

On arrival in Calais we continue the journey to Rouen for our 4 night stay.

DAY 2

Today we have a morning 2hr guided walking tour of Rouen.

The afternoon is then free to spend in this beautiful and compact city, with its cobblestone pedestrianised centre and many half-timbered medieval buildings.

DAY 3

Today we travel to the picturesque village of Giverny where the painter Claude Monet lived.

We have included entrance to Monets House and Gardens. Wander through the spacious house and feel the tranquillity and beauty of the place.

DAY 4

After breakfast we travel to the small medieval city of Honfleur, with its old harbour lined with 16th to 18th century townhouses which have been the subject for artists including Claude Monet and native son Eugene Boudin. Nearby is the 15th century wooden Church of Saint Catherine, a vaulted timber structure erected by shipbuilders.

We then travel to the beautiful seaside resort of Deauville on the Cote Fleurie of France's Normandy region. The town has chic boutiques, elegant belle epoque villas and half-timbered buildings.

DAY 5

After breakfast we leave the hotel to travel to Calais for our ferry crossing back to Dover.

On arrival in Dover we continue our journey home.
